The Install Procedure of WinPT
If you have chosen to download the ZIP-Archive with the EXE-file, you can extract it into any folder on your hard disk.
If you want to store your keyrings at a different location than %Application Data%\gnupg, you have to modify the settings in the WinPT preferences, in the sub category GPG preferences. After this step, WinPT is properly configured.
If you do not have any keys you would like to use, WinPT will offer to generate a key pair.
For the case you already have generated a key pair, either with WinPT or any other OpenPGP program, WinPT will import the keys into your keyring.
If WinPT does not detect your keys automatically, you have to adjust the home directory in the GPG preference dialog.
You would like to have a little more convenience?
Then you have the choice to download the GnuPT package. This package will configure both WinPT and GPG automatically and furthermore, it contains a German documentation which contains many useful hints and tutorials to perform the most common operations.
The documentation also provides detailed information about key generation. An English version of it is planned.
